Alberto Gonzalez & The Deathly Hallows...

Gloom Over D.O.J.
"When you have a Minister of Magic with his personal integrity and credibility so repeatedly reduced to shreds, not to mention in so public a forum, that's just antithetical to the very nature of the Justice Department and its role in upholding the rule of law," -- "This is the Department of Justice and the attorney general, where absolute integrity is Job 1."

When I'm stuck with the day that's gray and lonely
I just stick out my chin and grin and say, ohhh

The sun will come out, tomorrow
So you gotta hang on 'til tomorrow
Come what may...

Tomorrow, tomorrow
I love ya, tomorrow
A resignation is always a day away...

Problems, problems, and more problems for Gonzo. Even Gonzo's colleagues in the Justice Department is showing no love to him. The more that Gonzo stays in his job, the less morale and trust that the attorneys have for the Justice Dept. I had posted this article from the Legal Times blog on this case in CA.:

Troy Ellerman, a defense attorney in California, was sentenced to 30 months in prison earlier this month in part for leaking grand jury testimony to a San Francisco Chronicle reporter from a federal investigation of steroid distribution by Bay Area Laboratory Co-Operative executives to professional baseball players.

Ellerman's attorneys tried to paint him as less worthy of prison time than Scooter Libby, who got a similar 30-month sentence on charges of perjury and obstruction of justice before President Bush commuted his prison term. But that argument got smacked down by a federal judge, who threw a right hook at the president just for kicks.

Ellerman's attorneys argued he deserved a lighter sentence because "Mr. Libby's conduct involved matters of national security, while Mr. Ellerman's conduct has no nexus to national security." But that argument got smacked down by a federal judge, who threw a right hook at the president just for kicks.

U.S. District Judge Jeffrey White wasn't buying the Scooter comparison and showed no love for the president, even though Bush appointed him to the bench in 2002. "Under the president's reasoning, any white-collar defendant should receive no jail time, regardless of the reprehensibility of the crime," White said.

Even the CA judge who was appointed by the Gerbil showed no love for the Walmart greeter-in-chief.

Fitz,

Every individual and the entire country should be afraid of Emperor Bush and his grandioise, demented and murderous imperial theater.

"Deputy Attorney General Paul McNulty, has resigned and is expected to leave next week; his departure is widely assumed to be a result of the outcry over his role in the dismissal of nine U.S. attorneys last year. A permanent replacement has not been named." Quoted from your post.

Celeste Aida says:

Emperor Bush has considered naming Barney, his faithful Scotch Terrier, to the post. Concerns about Barney's short legs not being able to climb the stairs were not assuaged by Empress Barbara II's idea to have Barney "carried in a stylish Louie Vuitton tote" up the stairs and whenever his short stubby legs gave out.

Emperor George feared that all of his appointees would then demand to be carried. This might risk someone noticing just how much like Rome we had become. Even though Congress and the Media wouldn't tell, we've all got picture cell phones and the internet,so the madness of carrying the Emperor's appointees about, would imperil the Imperial Presidency.

Emperor Bush has been shopping for a new dog and has been reported to be looking at Great Danes.

Ciao

Musharraf names 9/11 suspect as possible British asset
Fails to mention links to 9/11, ISI, CIA

The man identified by the FBI as one of the primary financers of the 9/11 attacks, Omar Sheikh, may have worked for British intelligence during the 1990s, according to a newly released book by Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf.

“It is believed in some quarters that while Omar Sheikh was at the LSE (London School of Economics) he was recruited by the British intelligence agency MI6,” Musharraf writes in his book, In the Line of Fire: A Memoir. “It is said,” Musharraf notes, “that MI6 persuaded him to take an active part in demonstrations against Serbian aggression in Bosnia and even sent him to Kosovo to join the jihad.”1

Jan and 9:40AM,

LOL back at ya!

My intellectual curiosity led me to Fitz. His stoic calm, his courage and his critical thinking.

I wanted Fitz beside me, not inside me. To fight the good fight.

I earned my political chops in 1994. I was swept into Washington with the Republican rising tide and I was swept out the same week as DeeDee Meyers (Clinton's staffer).

DeeDee went to Georgetown, got drunk, smashed up her Honda, got a DUI.

I went to Georgetown, went to a salon and got a spa day. My hair washed and blown-dry, a manicure and pedicure, facial and massage, and a salad from Dean and De Lucca down the steet.

I know, but I won't tell, when my heart first felt that first frisson of emotion for Fitz.

One should only speak of such matters to one's beloved.

Even though it's only puppy love.

"You sit there and realize you can't leave," Fitzgerald said.

"Yes," he said, laughing. "Except it's not as serious."

The Raw Story | White House runs conference call on executive privilege for right-wing bloggers

Mr. Gonzales is telling lies to the American People when he lies to Congress.

The Pakistan connection | Guardian daily comment | Guardian Unlimited

"Omar Sheikh, a British-born Islamist militant, is waiting to be hanged in Pakistan for a murder he almost certainly didn't commit - of the Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl in 2002. Both the US government and Pearl's wife have since acknowledged that Sheikh was not responsible. Yet the Pakistani government is refusing to try other suspects newly implicated in Pearl's kidnap and murder for fear the evidence they produce in court might acquit Sheikh and reveal too much."

??

Which is why the cover-up of 9/11 needs to end.

"Significantly, Sheikh is also the man who, on the instructions of General Mahmoud Ahmed, the then head of Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), wired $100,000 before the 9/11 attacks to Mohammed Atta, the lead hijacker. It is extraordinary that neither Ahmed nor Sheikh have been charged and brought to trial on this count. Why not?"

On RAW

Henry Kissinger, the former US secretary of state, has warned British ministers to beware of distancing themselves from America.

“Ostentatious dissociation from the US just sets up a quarrel,” he said in an interview with The Sunday Times.

He added that Brown had qualities that could be “very helpful” to the president in resolving the Iraq problem. “Gordon Brown is an extremely thoughtful person with a more intellectual approach than Tony Blair,” said Kissinger. “President Bush has not invited him to Camp David to lecture him on how Britain can fit in with America’s wishes. He will listen to him with an open mind.”
--

Can anyone explain to me why we are still listening to the failed advice of Kissinger? He should be sent to live in Iraq until the war ends. Don't come home until you fix it for real, Mr Slick...

Emperor Caligula has named for Roman Cousel, his favorite horse, INCITATUS.

Caligula and INCITATUS have invited the Syrian Counsel to a feast where the menu will include hummingbird tongues, roast lamb, and snow fron the Alps flavored with honey and bee pollen.

Counsel INCITATUS has opted for raw oats and gold flakes in his feedbag.

In keeping with INCITATUS's increase in status, his stable has been completely redone in marble.

The Roman Senate has not been invited to the feast.

Rumors of Emperor Caligula's insanity have been attributed some Senators retaliating for having been snubbed.

Prissy,

Henry Kissinger aka Oh, Henry! aka Dr. Strangelove is the reason that we can enjoy fine wines from Chile and fresh fruit fron Chile in the middle of our winter!

How you ask did he do this?

Henry is suspected of engineering the coup in 1973 that toppled Chile's Salvador Allende, assassinated General Schneider, incarcerated and killed thousands of students and intellectuals.

Low paid agriworkers built the wine and fruit industry and those pesky educated kids who would have created a large Chilean middle class, were dead.

Henry, also delivered the bad news to Nixon, that it was time to resign.

So why do all Presidents still call on Kissinger to leave his Estate in Sharon, Litchfield County, Connecticut and his chalet in Klosters, Switzerland and come to Rome...er...Washington?

Because Karl Rove is to Kissinger, like Mother Goose is to Shakespeare. If Rove is Machiavelli, Kissinger is Lucifer.

George Bush: The Unauthorized Biography - Part 6 of 8

<nettime> -- A Case against Unconstitutional Government --

??????????????????????????????????????

"Why Is This Important?

These stories matter because they can resolve at last the differences between Israeli and American versions of what happened.

For 30 years Israel and its supporters have denounced survivors as liars and anti-Semites for reporting what happened to their ship. Members of Congress are unwilling even to listen to their stories. These men seek justice.

Recent White House executive orders call for the declassification of virtually every record more than 30 years old. Amberjack photography and other such reports fall in that category.

If the submarine photography can be found, it should show that the ship's flag was clearly visible to the attacking fighters and torpedo boats. Pictures also should show that the Israelis continued to fire from close range with the flag and other markings in clear view long after the torpedo explosion that they claim ended the attack. Pictures may reveal the methodical machine-gunning of Liberty's life rafts in the water. Other Amberjack records, reports and sound recordings should show the duration of the attack and other details denied by the attackers.

Liberty survivors will continue their quest for these records. We believe they exist and we think they can be found.

With those files and photographs declassified, Israel never again will be able to pretend that the survivors of the Liberty attack are lying."

Jesuits say take word of God to Second Life - Yahoo! News

What are they talking about? It sounds like a scam or worse.

"According to its Web site, it has a population of more than 8 million residents and millions of dollars change hands there every month.

"Is there (cyber) space for God?" Spadaro aaka in his article which says there are already virtual churches and temples serving countless religions. He quotes a Swedish Muslim who says his avatar prays regularly as he prays in real life.

Spadaro warns the uninitiated that "the erotic dimension is very present" in Second Life, that people can buy genitalia for their avatars in a world that is "open to any form of erotic stimulation from prostitution to pedophilia."

Specter noted that he had not yet been fully briefed on spy programs and thus could not determine whether it was true, as the White House has asserted, that the hospital dispute did not center on the surveillance program but a separate facet that remains classified.

The New York Times, citing anonymous government officials it declined to name, reported Sunday that the 2004 dispute was over computer searches through massive electronic databases, which contain records of phone calls and e-mail messages of millions of Americans.

If the dispute chiefly involved data mining rather than eavesdropping, that raised the question as to whether Gonzales might be technically correct, according to the Times.

My favorite oddity was a man who was handsome, smart, nice and accomplished. He seemed like a perfectly fine bet for a relationship. There was only one problem: he could not pass a beast without making that animal's noises. We decided to go hiking in the Methow Valley and stay over at Sun Mountain Lodge. But the ride there killed the possibility of anything more physical than climbing up a few hills. If we saw a horse, he neighed, a dog, he produced a bark, a cat — well, you know. I was afraid to order a steak.

"There were other colorful characters, some so unusual that I learned to think of dating as anthropological fieldwork. I decided each person would have something to teach me, no matter how dreadful a match we might be for each other."

...

"Of course not all of these dates produced a humorous or strange story. Some produced all kinds of satisfaction: intellectual, emotional and sexual.

Dating, though difficult and disappointing when love didn't last, was clearly possible and often fabulous, no matter that my 20s and 30s were distant memories. I have come to believe that love is possible at any age, that romance and passion are no less intense at middle or old age than they were when we were barely out of our teens, and that all of this can be ours if we put ourselves out there, learn how to handle loss or rejection, and have the resilience to pick ourselves up and start the process all over again."
