Pentagon Inspector General: Key Report On Iraq Is Faulted
'Dubious' Intelligence Fueled Push for War

Intelligence provided by former undersecretary of defense Douglas J. Feith to buttress the White House case for invading Iraq included "reporting of dubious quality or reliability" that supported the political views of senior administration officials rather than the conclusions of the intelligence community, according to a report by the Pentagon's inspector general.

Feith's office "was predisposed to finding a significant relationship between Iraq and al Qaeda," according to portions of the report, released yesterday by Sen. Carl M. Levin (D-Mich.). The inspector general described Feith's activities as "an alternative intelligence assessment process." <
Refresh my memory. The Plame cover-up is about what?

A long-awaited report on the veracity of pre-war Iraq intelligence has found that a secretive policy shop exaggerated the Iraqi threat, providing the White House with cherry-picked information about links between Iraq and al Qaeda. The shop, operating out of the Pentagon, was set up by then-Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld. Its goal was to lay the groundwork for a pre-emptive military strike against Iraq.

The report would appear to confirm British intelligence assertions that surfaced in a document widely referred to as the Downing Street Memo that the facts against the threat posed by Iraq were being fixed around the Bush administration's policy leading up to the invasion of Iraq. <

Good morning Mr. Fitzgerald and fellow justice bloggers.

So I've always wondered... other than 'idiot' what does the "I" in I. Lewis Libby stand for anyway???

Happy Friday:)

This information about manipulating intelligence has been reported for some time on "liberal, left wing" blog sites. All of a sudden it's news? I guess the koolaid is wearing off. Notice how Feith had a different version of the truth for each audience he was playing to. Shame on you, Douglas Feith.

Hi Calamity Jane,

I think people will be coming out of the woodwork now, speaking out against all the lies and intelligence manipulation. Thanks to Mr. Fitzgerald, they see they have a form of protection now. Now that he's showed the world that Ambien and Gerbil really are liars, they know people won't question their credibility - they will instead question the administration's.

Read "Mr. Fitzgerald Calling" above. Jason Leopold. He does a good job. I guess I should have called it 'DoD Report Appears to Confirm Downing Street Memo' (but wishful thinking on my part I guess, hoping Fitzie will take the case of the U.S. v. George Bush & Dick Cheney) - I guess it reall y should be 'Calling Mr. Fitzgerald'

... and Calamity GOPers are talking of 'impeachment' over 2 border patrols being held at GITMO USA (mentioned in my yesterday post) at this link:

Despite condemning itself, Pentagon report sees intelligence problem resolved; Makes no recommendations

from Leopold's article:

"Lang said the CIA and the OSP often clashed on the accuracy of intelligence information provided to the White House by Paul Wolfowitz.

By the fall of 2002, the White House had virtually dismissed all of the intelligence on Iraq provided by the CIA, in favor of the more critical information provided to the Bush administration by the Office of Special Plans. The CIA had failed to find any evidence of Iraq's weapons programs.

In a rare Pentagon briefing four years ago, Douglas Feith said the Office of Special Plans was not an "intelligence project," but rather a group of eighteen people who looked at intelligence information from a different point of view."

Office of Special Plans = 18 Gerbildoers

P.S. Libby and Cheney know they are screwed - so no need to testify now. Good luck getting out of the country boys ( ;

Thank goodness citizens that know better and have been screwed over by the likes of people like Feith, have been doing their own research for their country for years.

By letting off liars and evil-doers off the hook, covering up facts for the last 40, 50 or more years---America continues to be destroyed along with our planet.

Didn't Feith leak something himself ? He spins so well, no matter, it cost so many lives. We the People, want Justice.

What's the matter Cheney? Caught in a big fat LIE so now you don't want to take the witness stand!!?!?

CALL his bluff and call him to the witness stand....Only someone guilty behaves like this.

"My attorney will take care of it."

Your same attorney who lied five times, and spends more time on these "faux blogs" than in his job position.

Now the world knows all the pre intelligence was a lie. Even Blair can't get out of this one. Now as for Fitz handling the US vs. Bush/Cheney. Part of me would like to watch him bring those two down. But the other part says he's done more then anyone could have dreamed. It's time others stepped up to the plate even the American people. Now I know Fitz would love to solve the 9/11 case so I'd like him to handle that to complete those answers and put things to rest. But I don't know the future it's just my thoughts.

Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening folks!

Thanks for the latest article by Jason and the NAU article, Patriot Girl. A gentlemen at a repair shop yesterday had a cable station from the Middle East that was giving their spin on guess what? The Libby trial! It was in English. The author of the book Hubris (which is co-written with David Corn) was on the show. He was given a lot in depth about the Libby case in connection to WH conspiracy to discredit Wilson. He discussed the Iraq/Al-Queda connection conspired by Wolfowitz, Doug Feith, and Libby. Really intense stuff. It was a 20 minute discussion. But, it is ashamed our own media doesn't give us info like that. The owner at the repair shop who is Middle Eastern told me that he watches Middle Easter news in English to get info about news in the U.S, because he simply doesn't trust certain news media in the U.S. Quite interesting what he said to me.

Amen to that, Patriot Girl. You know how really embarrassing the media is in the U.S. From watching a little of that cable station in the repair shop, it puts us into shame. Their journalists really dig deep and ask tough questions. Democracynow.org had their journalists on that show as well as Center of American Progress (known as Thinkprogress.org).. Really shameful.. Oh, forgot to say that there was a woman from Italy who had sharp criticism of the Administration and the U.S. concerning and Italian police officer that was killed in Iraq. I'll try to find the article...

Thanks for that SPB. I know there's been quite a few more of these instances - of other countries bringing charges, not only against our military personnel, but also CIA operatives and, of course, administration officials. But naturally you never hear of these things in our news.

Blogger Special Prosecutor Biloxi said...

"But naturally you never hear of these things in our news."

No, because the Administration wants to keep the public ignorant to what is happening. Too much sensationism in the news and not enough educating the public. And notice that there has been more news about Anna Nicole Smith than about Iraq. Not knocking Ms. Smith's sudden death but there is more going on in this country.

I realize this is thread late and will be useful only as archive...but Mr. Feith should not be slapped on the hand. He is responsible for planning preemptive murder and invasion. How dare he criticize those critical of him.
