What's That Flaming Thing...?

asked a fellow patron seated next to me and a friend about our flaming Volcano ice cream dessert in the Cleveland Park sushi hot spot Spices earlier tonight.

"That's Grover," my friend whispered.

"Grover Cleveland..?"

"No, Norquist!"

Ah, that's right Signatures has closed. I wondered to myself how he likes paying for his own meals now.

Just as we were leaving, we saw Grover's flaming Volcano arriving. I am fairly certain that I heard him say to his FOX news looking friend, "I sure wish Jack were here to share this with us."

UPDATE: While reading today's Wa. Po. I came across an article about the controversial FOX O.J. interview and lo and behold there was a picture of "envelope pushing" publisher Judith Regan...Grover's date or publisher!? Probably not a date...

Coming soon, a Jack and/or Grover tell all book or a Grover - Bernie Kerik catfight?

Poor Norquist.. Now he has to pay for his meals now that Jack of all Trades headed to prison. May I suggest to him that McDonald has 99 cents fish sandwichs on Fridays. If he is luckly, he can clip a coupon in the newspaper to get a nickel off of fries!

LOL!

Grover was laundering money solicited by Ambramoff from his Indian clients to fund anti-gambling efforts managed by holy roller Ralph Reed.

For his trouble,Grover received a percentage.

How is it that this unethical money launderer who enabled corrupt misrepresentation of indian clients, continues to inluence policy in Washington rather than serving a sentance like his criminal pal Abramoff or at the very least, resign in disgrace and return to private life?

When it is time for the veep to be voted off the island, I look for a low battery on his pacemaker and a yearn for medical leave from the veep!

There will be alot of paying by the GOP in the months to come. As the rats tell on each other and Harris's book comes to light we'll find out who did what and when. Libby is most likely going to fold and turn coat on the White House. I wonder if Daddy Gerbil will ask Pelosi to pardon the little coward as Ford did for Nixon.

Arrested For Booing Blair
Paul Routledge
London Mirror
Friday, November 17, 2006
INSPECTOR Idiot of the Met police was on duty in Whitehall for Queen's Speech day. He ordered two constables to search Peter Murray, 48, an award winning male nurse, for shouting "boo" at Tony Blair's limousine.
They also took his name, abusing their powers under Section 44 of the Terrorism Act 2000. It is now an offence to be rude about the Prime Minister in public. Tshirts with the slogan "B******s to Blair" can land you in jail.
I don't know who's more stupid, the politicians who make the laws, or the police who enforce them with such dumb enthusiasm.

A horror video that wouldn't look out of place in Maoist China or Nazi Germany shows a student being repeatedly shot with a stun gun by UCLA police for the crime of not showing his ID. As similar cases begin to pile up how long will it be before Americans are routinely tortured for noncompliance and refusing to have their 4th amendment violated?

ACTION: Call UCLA and demand an investigation into this incident. BE POLITE. 310-825-4321

in which housewife Abbey Newman is arrested for refusing to tell the cops her name and following which her car is searched at a checkpoint which she said was unconstitutional and following which her vehicle was searched and literature found which the cops considered “subversive”.

The sun had set long since. Here and there a star flashed bright in the sky. The rising moon spread a red glow along the horizon like the glare from a fire, and soon the vast red ball hung swaying strangely in the grey haze. The sky was glowing brighter. The evening was over but the night had not yet begun. Pierre got up and leaving his new companions walked between the camp-fires to the other side of the road, where he had been told the common prisoners were camping. He wanted to talk to them. On the way he was stopped by a French sentinel, who ordered him back.

Pierre returned, not to his companions by the camp-fire but to an unharnessed wagon where there was nobody. Tucking his legs under him and dropping his head, he sat down on the cold ground against a wheel of the wagon, and sat there a long while before without moving, deep in thought. Over an hour went by. No one disturbed Pierre. Suddenly he burst into a burly peal of jovial laughter, so loud that men looked round on every side in astonishment at this odd and plainly solitary hilarity.

“Ha-ha-ha!” laughed Pierre. And he said aloud to himself: “The soldier did not let me pass. They took me and shut me up. They keep me prisoner. What ‘me’? Me? Me – my immortal soul! Ha-ha-ha! Ha!-ha!-ha!…” he laughed with the tears starting to his eyes.

Someone got up and came to see what this queer big fellow was laughing at all by himself. Pierre stopped laughing, scrambled to his feet, walked away from the inquisitive intruder and looked about him.

The immense, endless bivouac which shortly before had hummed with the crackling of camp-fires and the voices of many men was now quiet; the red camp-fires paled and died down. High overhead in the luminous sky hung the full moon. Forests and fields beyond the confines of the camp, unseen before, now stretched visible in the distance. And still farther beyond these forests and fields the bright, quivering, limitless distance lured the eye into its depths. Pierre glanced up at the sky and the stars twinkling remote and far-away. “And all that is mine, all this is within me, and all that is me,” thought Pierre. “And they took all that and shut it up in a shed barricaded with planks!” He smiled and went to lie down and sleep beside his companions.

Why Are There Four
Carriers In The Persian Gulf?

A short article I read on rense.com:

“There Are Four US Carriers In The Gulf
November 7, 2006,

On Oct. 31, the two nuclear-powered carriers, the USS Eisenhower and USS Enterprise, arrived in Bahrain, accompanied by their carrier strike groups. On Nov 9th, the USS Iwo Jima, and the USS Boxer also arrived. The presence of these carriers, combined with Israel's talk of a Iranian strike, sort of makes a person wonder if Bush is up to something. Assault Carriers and Full carriers

This is an odd predicament

No one will stand for another invasion, with thousands of dead US servicemen. If America was to attack, it will be nuclear, but something needs to happen to enrage the US public to allow nukes. If Israel attacked Iran, and Iran nuked Tel Aviv, half the world would celebrate, and the other half would be holding back the chuckles.

The only workable scenario

If Bush plans on going into Iran, there must be a massive attack on the Fifth Fleet, or a nuke in an American city. The trouble is - Israel knows it too.”

My own comment on the situation:

1. Iran cannot nuke Tel Aviv because it doesn’t have nukes and in any case wouldn’t be insane enough to do so as this would invite massive retaliation on the part of the Israelis who do have nukes.
2. It could be said that if the Bush administration (or Israel, as it did against the USS Liberty in the 60s) carried out a “false flag operation” against any of these ships, or against an American city, then the world would see it for what it was, with the resulting anti-war feeling both in the States and worldwide, but my fear is that not enough people are aware of the truth about 9/11 for this to be the case. While a majority of Americans believe that the government is hiding something about 9/11, those who actually believe it was an inside job are still, despite what Alex Jones says, in a minority.
3. That is why it is so important to educate people about 9/11 and to do so now. If the Bush administration (or the Israelis) carry out a false flag operation to provoke a nuclear attack on Iran, they know they must so soon, before the truth about 9/11 finally catches up on the American public.
4. We are probably not talking about the kind of bombs used against Hiroshima and Nagasaki, but relatively clean, low-yield nuclear bombs which the US military may have been developing over the last few years and which would have to be used to destroy Iran’s nuclear facilities as conventional weapons would not do the job.
5. The authors final point is very worrying.

Blair is cooked and he knows it. As the investigations get started his name will be among the criminals named.
I was pleased to hear about Fitz's success in the Libby case. He never listens to me sometimes Loose lips sinks ships as did Libby by asking for national security information to be used in his defense. Look Libby is just guilty but using national security info is only letting other pending cases know what really happen behind those closed door meetings. Yes we'll see Pelosi doesn't need to impeach the Gerbil he'll impeach himself. Look for Cheney to have medical problems and leave office. Rove is packing now but his criminal charges will continue. I see this case ending in January will Libby singing like a bird as there will be one help forth coming from the lame duck President and his duck/man shooting side kick Cheney. Rove will now have to deal with the famous Seal vs Seal we were wondering about.

anonymous at 12:11, you have misquoted me. What I said was:

you could almost think that God is in his heaven (which he is) and all's well with the world (which it isn't).

Not all is well with the world. Indeed, there is much that is seriously wrong.

I think the line is a quote from a peom by Robert Browning, who shared the confident Victorian belief in the progress of civilization and that things would get better.

Sadly, things have got to get a lot worse before they get better.

Just Joking about the road named after convicted Gov. Ryan, but they did rename a highway Ronald Reagan. And with new extenstions being built etc. you just never know. But the honorary street names esp. in the downtown area are way out of control. Houston Police Run Over Striking Janitors with Horses

Those damn deadly terrorist Janitors!

And when these workers protested peacefully, the Houston police department rode into a crowd with horses to intimidate and injure the workers. It worked, as they arrested 44 workers and hurt 4 of them, including an 83 year old janitor.

Are the police proud of their behavior?

"grandstanding republican DA in Houston last night requested bail of $888,888 for each of the 44 peaceful protesters arrested in the horse trampling incident. that's a combined $39 million and change. the janitors were accused of class b misdemeanors - normal bond rate is $500. a guy recently charged with murder in Houston had bail set at only $30,000!"

Atrios put together a nice collection of quotes from conservative publisher Judith Regan’s various Fox News appearances. Some excerpts:

REGAN: You know, look at Monica Lewinsky talking about being suicidal, being on antidepressants, you know, gaining this huge amount of weight. This is clearly a woman who has suffered and is suffering inside because she has no depth of feeling and no morality whatsoever.

REGAN: I don’t know. I mean, I think that they’re going to move forward here, and I think it’s alarming to me that the country is not concerned about having an amoral man in the White House.

REGAN: I said, “You know what? There’s a really great morality tale here with a great, great moral lesson,” and nobody’s really said that.

REGAN: Well, partially, but it’s also an “amorality tale” because the one thing that’s missing from “Monica’s Story” is, you know, deep thinking about her own amorality, which we saw — was in ample evidence during the Barbara Walters love fest the other night. I mean, here’s a woman who clearly knows a lot about sex, but knows nothing about right and wrong.

REGAN: … I would say she is a true soulmate of Bill Clinton because the two of them — she learned a lot about spinning. She learned a lot about publicity. You know, she learned a lot about changing her image.

Ms. REGAN: Well, I think that the social fabric of this country has become completely unraveled. I think the sexual revolution had a lot to do with that. I think that we are in terrible shape.

Ms. REGAN: And this is really what we need in America today. We need to conquer our own impulses. We need to understand that we can’t act on them all the time because it feels good for us.

Ms. REGAN: Let me tell you something, my father has never cheated on my mother, my brothers have never treated cheated on their wives. I come from a big Italian Irish Catholic family and I have to say that for the most part, they have not cheated on each other.

Very high standards coming from an adulterer herself.
