Gale A. Norton, Buh Bye...!

Interior Secretary Gale Norton is resigning after five years in President Bush' Cabinet - apparently revelations about her cozy relationship with Jack Abramoff have become too much for even her to deny anymore.

I predict in the very near future that leaving Washington D.C. in disgrace will become much more commonplace, some might even label it a trend.
Chalk one up for the good guys!
"Now I feel it is time for me to leave this mountain you gave me to climb, catch my breath, then set my sights on new goals to achieve in the private sector." - Puh-leeeeeze, Gale!
"@$%*&%$% Freedom of Information Act photo!"

Below is a statement by NRDC land program director Sharon Buccino:

"Gale Norton is responsible for the destruction of public wildlands and key wildlife habitat. Her goal was to give away as many of our publicly owned resources as she could to the energy, timber and mining industries, and by that measure, she was very successful. But the Interior Department's job also is to protect our land, protect our drinking water sources, and protect the wildlife that makes that land home. She never took that part of her responsibility seriously.

"Ms. Norton said she now is setting her sights on 'the private sector.' Unfortunately, her record suggests she has been working for private special interests all along."

In 1996 she sought the Republican Senate nomination in Colorado but was defeated by Wayne Allard, who now holds the seat. Later she cofounded the Council of Republicans for Environmental Advocacy, a group that has become embroiled in the Jack Abramoff lobbying scandal.

The leading Republican and Democrat on the Senate Indian Affairs Committee have said that e-mails uncovered by the committee show that Steven Griles, Norton's former deputy, had a close relationship with Abramoff.

Another onetime Norton associate, Italia Federici, helped Abramoff gain access to Griles in exchange for contributions from Abramoff's Indian tribe clients, Sens. John McCain, R-Ariz., the committee chairman, and Byron Dorgan, D-N.D., have said.

Basically, Norton is bailing out from the WHite House. And she says that she is resigning. Uhhuh! Now that Abramoff is naming names of connection and she may be sfraid that he will have details her ties. Let's not forget that Ms. Norton that she has connections to corporate businesses such as BP, Ford, and NL Industries (which benefit the Adminstration in corporate profits) and so does many of the Bush's cabinet. Who is next to bail out from the cabinet?

And a congratulations to John Murtha for receiving the Courage Award. A well-deserved award for a well-deserved man. Go Murtha!

Murtha to Receive Profile in Courage Award
The Associated Press

Boston - Rep. John Murtha, a Vietnam veteran who has denounced the war in Iraq, was named a recipient of the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award on Thursday.

And where is Bush's award? Oh, I'm sorry. The only award that can be given to Bush is the Cornflake Award!

I was trying to be less cynical on this blog. Cornflake suits Bush. His brain is made from a cormflake. Soggy on the inside and soggy on the outside. Now, I can call Bush a lot of things very strong but I won't go there. Everytime Bush opens his mouth on anything, he let out his ignorance. Yes, an imbecile, a moron, a bonehead, mangler-in chief, liar-in-chief, a idiot etc. Those words fits an award for Bush!

e.
You are too generous with the stagecoach. It should a boot to his butt on Bush's way out!

Just one question who hasn't been in bed with Jack Nasty Abramoff? Will it be Jack that cleans house as the names just keep on coming. As for McCain well he's a joke. I wonder when Abramoff will get around to naming some Dems like Liebermann I know he's involved because of his cheerleading for Bush. Lets say all of those in Jack's back pocket where forms of the unintelligent design and they can't have a do over.

Jackie,

Let's hope that Homer Simpson wasn't connected to Abramoff. Abramoff will certainly come out with "kiss and tell" book. And if he does, his book would be more racy than Heidi Fleiss' little blackbook!

Switching gears:

I am a bit miff at this story of this attack against candidate Harold Ford Jr. The GOP is out to attack this man's integrity. This is very trashy attack. And I hope Senator Barack Obama be there for Ford:
Fancy Ford: GOP slams candidate seeking Senate leader's seat

But he's also been a staunch supporter of affirmative action and voted against President Bush's broader tax cuts.

Desperate people take desperate measures.

Grandmanuk,

The hounds are close and looking for blood. I just read on Raw Story, since the abortion ban in SD has become a hot topic of discussion. Senator Bill Napoli said on PBS's Newshour that "if a victim had followed strict religious guidelines, her life would be endangered by the pregnancy. Under this scenario, she would be eligible for an abortion."

This country is certainly messed up.

Speaking of Norton, not wonder she wanted to bail out so quickly:

There os an email that has a mention of Norton.
