"More than two dozen emails sent to various senior Bush administration officials between May 2003 and early July 2003 related to covert CIA agent Valerie Plame Wilson and her husband, former Ambassador Joseph Wilson, are missing, and the special prosecutor investigating the case suspects that the communications may have been destroyed, according to high level sources close to the two-year old probe.
The sources, who are knowledgeable about Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald's investigation and have read hundreds of pages of grand jury testimony, said the emails in question were sent between May and July 2003 by I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, Deputy White House Chief of Staff Karl Rove, then-Deputy National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley, former CIA official Frederick Fleitz, former Cheney aide John Hannah, former Cheney National Security assistant David Wurmser, former Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Affairs John Bolton, and White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card.
Fitzgerald also suspects that some emails sent to Vice President Cheney by Libby and senior officials at the CIA as well as Libby and Cheney's email replies during this time were not turned over to Fitzgerald's staff.

Nora O'Donnell on MSNBC brought up an interesting point about the missing, unarchived, misarchived, lost, deleted, erased, whatever, WH emails. She made the connection between this most recent bombshell (about missing emails) and Rove's sudden "discovery" of the email that then triggered his "repressed-memory-syndrome" revelation regarding his conversations with Time's Cooper about Plame-Wilson. I guess the question is, is there an electronic file box filled with incriminating emails in Rove's and others' possession? And will these slimeballs suddenly "discover" them and dole them out one at a time as necessary. I don't imagine Fitzy will put up with that for very long.
Also, and forgive me if this violates some sort blog protocol, but firedoglake has some interesting news about how Fitzy knows the emails are missing in the first place. I don't know which is scarier--that these people are that evil, or that they're that stupid.

Betcha he'll be real careful deciding what the squiggles mean. So easy to take the line "Told M: not WINPAC, but CP" and change it to "Told M: WINPAC, not CP" to buttress his claim that he didn't tell Miller Plame was covert.
I wonder if Fitzgerald's already let a handwriting analyst, or a cryptographer, or a pharmacist (*G*) loose on those notes. It'd be a real treat to see Libby caught dead to rights falsifying his own transcription. The Wrath of Fitz would be a wonderful, terrible thing to behold.
