The Wheels Of Justice...

turn slowly. We are bringing Libby to trial in January 2007. Keep the faith. My job is to prosecute evil doers, not influence mid-term elections.

I just read on the WSJ on Libby's trial date. Bush may think that this will buy him time since Libby's trail is not until next year but more and more scandals and lies are surfacing this year. Bush may be done long before the mid-elections. Switching gears: The Senator Democrats are calling for a special prosecutor for the Abramoff case:

Special Prosecutor For Abramoff Case?
Posted by Peter Lattman
Senate Democrats are pressuring the Justice Department to appoint a special prosecutor to take over the department’s criminal investigation of Republican lobbyist Jack Abramoff, according to a story in the New York Times.
According to the NYT, 35 Senate Democrats and independent Jim Jeffords sent a letter to Attorney General Gonzales alleging that an outside prosecutor was needed because of “Mr. Abramoff’s significant ties to Republican leadership in Congress and allegations of improper activity involving administration officials.”
Democrat Senate leader Harry Reid raised the level of discourse, saying in a statement that he signed the letter because “we need an independent investigation, not a whitewash led by Attorney General Gonzales, President Bush’s best friend.” He also added, “President Bush has worn out his credibility with the American people yet he continues to stonewall an investigation into his involvement with Jack Abramoff, asking [us] to trust him without explaining why.”

Fourteen Defining Characteristics Of Fascism

Dr. Lawrence Britt has examined the fascist regimes of Hitler (Germany), Mussolini (Italy), Franco (Spain), Suharto (Indonesia) and several Latin American regimes.

Britt found 14 defining characteristics common to each:

1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism - Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.

2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights - Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.

3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause - The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial, ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.

4. Supremacy of the Military - Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.

5. Rampant Sexism - The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Divorce, abortion and homosexuality are suppressed and the state is represented as the ultimate guardian of the family institution.

6. Controlled Mass Media - Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.

7. Obsession with National Security - Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.

8. Religion and Government are Intertwined - Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions.

9. Corporate Power is Protected - The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.

10. Labor Power is Suppressed - Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed.

11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts - Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts and letters is openly attacked.

12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment - Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations.

13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption - Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders.

14. Fraudulent Elections - Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.

I was tempted toward discouragement to see the trial date moved beyond November, but, it is true a number of things can happen in the meantime :

1. Libby can be indicted on other charges, such as conspiracy;

2. Rove, ditto.

3. Democrats can win the House and begin impeachment hearings, negating the pardon option for Libby or others.

4. Senate hearings can formally identify criminal behavior making impeachment inevitable

5. Failing #3, enough Republicans, pressured by the electorate on scandalpalooza, join with Democrats to bring about hearings in the House

6. Libby plea-bargains; dominos fall.

7. Abramoff disclosures implicate Libby and the WH in so much major ca-ca that the Plame outing is the LEAST of their worries.

8. Ditto NSA spying.

Just a start, but it says to me to keep hope alive. Justice will be served.

Does the prosecution of all these fine upstanding men mean a new courthouse will be built? We will need it... Investigations into the possibility of impeachment start soon. It's time for spring cleaning!

PJF,

I suggest you find a copy of MC5's "Kick Out The Jams" album and get radicalized.

The other end of the spectrum is still around too.

Fitz,

I hope that you can find out the missing email information from the White House even though alot of media didn't give any news on this manner. But, we do know this is a cover-up. We may not know now the missing pieces yet ( I think we will eventually find out) but rest assured, those missing emails were certainly not conversations with Libby about saving money on car insurance from GEICO!

Fitz,

Great work everybody! Now nail Rove, & of course others like Hadley for conspiracy and let the indictments "shower" until we see the trials come out and begin taking down them all....

Rove led away in chains.....Then both you and the boys tackle the State Department and finish the job.

PJF -- even in the harddrives from an email being deleted, doesn't mean that it is. Perhaps you already know this -- the crack staff at NSA should they wish to co-operate, CIA and a handful of other helpful folks will be able to retrieve the 'missing' emails.

As for the lack of co-operation and forthright offering of such information and the lame excuses of 'confused' ...
? I'm sure Libby isn't claiming Alzheimers disease is he?
? Does he get 'confused' when in a briefing with officials from other countries, ambassadors and the like?
THE CAJONES THEY HAVE -- THEY are JUST FLAMING BS

As for Bush/Shrub not aware of any of this, either he's horribly incompetent or in the very
eye of the storm. He is incompetent but savvy enough as a Frat President to try to squiggle, wiggle, worm, lie/cheat [oh excuse me that were all his exams at Yale and his papers] ..on any one topic in any given moment.

So, January 8 2007.. unless of course the 'classified' information they so claim he'll have another flatline, eh? or
so claim your staff has compromised the investigation.

I hope this does not mean the steam on the rest of those nasty evildoers in the Oval [yes, Cheney, Hadley, Hannah, Bolton and the rest of the WHIGS -- that'd be YOU] have to 'wait'.

Parallel tracks .. how do we know the 'judge' sitting on this trial won't be 'bought' off with another 'plum offer' from the Shrub himself.

We have the entire Al Quaeda community laughing at us, this Administration-
Its Shrub's own doing-
