Anybody but Bush! There are so many great candidates on the list that affect our lives this year for more of the good than the bad. I would have to choose Valerie Plame (she may not want to be chosen) because she is just ordinary woman (non-celebrity) who is the key to the total corruption and destruction of the Bush Administration. Her name will be in the history books for the President.
I voted for Mother Nature.
The list was good but sometimes great people don't see what we see. Most American hero or great ones get that title when their dead. Fitz you didn't ask for it but you were blessed to be the person to clean house and give America back to Americans. I know your not into the spot light thing but you are the man of 2005. The highest power made that choice and you have to just accept it. None of us know what our futures are like Bubba this is just part of the blessing we've prayed for.
I vote for Cindy Sheehan. Her dignified vigil outside of Bush's ranch asking only for answers about why her son died brought the media's attention to a War where discourse was discouraged.
The Valerie Plame disclosure was an offshot of that.
Others felt this way but she did something about it. She therefore impacted war coverage and built the platform upon which we all stand.
I vote for Jack Murtha.
Mother Nature isn't a person! Is she? If she is, why is she so pissed?
If I had to vote for the person who has the biggest effect on MY life, it would be Steve Jobs. I'm typing on my Mac, listening to my iPod and browsing with Safari. Thank you Steve Jobs!
However, JK Rowling made me cry. And Patrick J. Fitzgerald made me smile.
It's an arguable point, but I feel the hurricanes et al are not really Mother Nature but global warming and other man made neglects. Certainly New Orleans under water is a disaster made of disinterest - in infratructure and in the plight of poor blacks.
Therefore I don't think Mother Nature did much at all except perhaps cry at how she's being blamed for corporate greed and too many SUV drivers.
There appears to be a belief among idiots that as long as we're fighting a war for oil rights we therefore have the right to use all the oil we can.
Or is that oil company - read Halliburton - PR machine, getting us hooked on gas monsters and then waging war to cause shortages which then begat higher prices?
Time's person of the year should be someone who stands up to the status quo when it's so dangerously wrong. Yes, PJF, you definitely qualify. However, you are at least on salary while Cindy Sheehan is not. (A minor distinction between my heroes but why I vote for her.)
Serval names should be added to the Time list which was left out. These should be taken into consideration: Tom DeLay, All of the hurricanes that hit this year, Bin Laden (since we cannot find him), Homer Simpson, and Michael Brown (ex-FEMA) for showing the blunder by the Administration of hiring non-qualified employees.. As a side note, I do agree that Cindy Sheehan should be nominated.

ok from the list I picked JK Rowling because she helped American children want to read again. I really don't understand how Connie Rice got on the list. Connie only follows what Bush tells her and so far nothing is successful. She is just holding a title. Maybe she should have asked Powell to train her for the job.

Bombs explode on roads outside Madrid

Five small bombs exploded on roads close to the Spanish capital Madrid today, news reports said.
The daily newspaper El Mundo said no one was injured in the blasts and there was little damage, El Mundo’s website reported.
The report said police were searching for more devices following a warning call from the armed Basque group ETA that five devices had been planted.

And he speaks only whats on his mind, without pulling any punches. Jack Murtha is man of the year.
