CHICAGO, Sept. 7 -- An officer of Teamsters Local 743 and three former union local employees were indicted on federal charges for allegedly conspiring together with others to steal ballots in an effort to rig two elections in favor of an incumbent slate of officers in 2004, officials of the U.S. Justice and Labor departments announced today.
In two closely-contested elections just months apart, the defendants and others allegedly diverted to their friends, family and confidantes hundreds of mailed, official ballot packages that were intended for delivery to Local 743 members, and then cast the ballots or caused them to be cast to ensure election of the incumbent slate. Thank you for your kindness, concern and information.
I am getting help through the Archdicese and the consultant on the priest-scandal, Dr. Michael Bland. His teachers/professors work with me. Michael is a former priest who is also a victim. I am grateful for the grace of Michael's gentleness and caring, for his continuing to give me access even though he's left the religious life-no longer a priest and now has a private practice.
The statute of limitations has indeed run out and SNAP had tried to get the IL Legislature to change the law.
Others may, but I'm not seeking a legal answer-solution. I don't want the Archdiocese's money.
People like my parents, who are the salt-of-the-earth, contribute their hard-earned money to the Church.
I have an education. I have portable-marketable skills. I have a union-card-so-to-speak; a profession.

SNAP needs to confront the number of lay people who knew (and know) about priest/molesters and did nothing. In one Colorado parish, a social network analysis uncovered that 343 people knew that one priest had abused 11 kids and they didn't report him to the civil authorities. The archdiocese just shipped him away to another place where he could molest.
Colorado is not unique. There are thousands upon thousands of people over the decades who let these criminals be dealt with "privately."

I met Dr. Lengele last Friday, (in the Olson Auditorium at Yatchman's Children's Hospital of Lutheran General Hospital, in Park Ridge, IL) when he gave a poetic presentation of his celebrated "face-transplant" surgery on a French woman who had her face chewed off by a dog.
Dr. Lengele was also caring of the donor's face and the donor's family. He made a silicone death mask and when the donor's family touched the donor's death-mask on his body now-prepared-for-burial, and asked the doctor, "What part of the face did you take?" Dr. Lengele knew what he did was in accordance with what is good and moral.

Yet Law was essentially 'promoted' to a high post in Rome, which outraged Catholics and re-traumatized victims. SNAP feels that George's ascension to the USCCB presidency would cause similar pain and harm.

"AP) The Justice Department on Thursday said Internet service providers should be allowed to charge a fee for priority Web traffic.
The agency told the Federal Communications Commission, which is reviewing high-speed Internet practices, that it is opposed to "Net neutrality," the principle that all Internet sites should be equally accessible to any Web user.
Several phone and cable companies, such as AT&T Inc., Verizon Communications Inc. and Comcast Corp., have previously said they want the option to charge some users more money for loading certain content or Web sites faster than others.
The Justice Department said imposing a Net neutrality regulation could hamper development of the Internet and prevent service providers from upgrading or expanding their networks. It could also shift the "entire burden of implementing costly network expansions and improvements onto consumers," the agency said in its filing.
Such a result could diminish or delay network expansion and improvement, it added.
The agency said providing different levels of service is common, efficient and could satisfy consumers. As an example, it cited that the U.S. Postal Service charges customers different guarantees and speeds for package delivery, ranging from bulk mail to overnight delivery.
"Whether or not the same type of differentiated products and services will develop on the Internet should be determined by market forces, not regulatory intervention," the agency said in its filing.
The agency's stance comes more than two months after Federal Trade Commission Chairwoman Deborah Platt Majoras cautioned policy makers to enact Net neutrality regulation.
Such a regulation could prevent rather than promote Internet investment and innovation and have "significant negative effects for the economy and consumers," the Justice Department said in the filing.
Supporters of Internet regulation have said that phone and cable companies could discriminate against certain Web site and services. However, the agency said it will continue to monitor and enforce any anticompetitive conduct to ensure a competitive broadband marketplace."
