White House FORCED to turn over Abramoff records

"The Secret Service has agreed to turn over White House visitor logs that will show how often convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff met with Bush administration officials — and with whom he met.

U.S. District Judge John Garrett Penn last Tuesday approved an agreement between the Secret Service and Judicial Watch, a public interest group, that requires the agency to produce records of Abramoff's visits from Jan. 1, 2001, to the present.

Judicial Watch filed suit in February after the Secret Service failed to respond to its request under the federal Freedom of Information Act.

Abramoff, who represented Indian tribes in their dealings with Washington politicians, once was one of the city's most successful lobbyists.

He pleaded guilty in January in Washington to federal charges stemming from an investigation into his ties with members of Congress and the Bush administration. He also pleaded guilty to fraud charges in Miami concerning a multimillion-dollar purchase of SunCruz Casinos gambling fleet in 2000.

Administration officials have refused to say how many times Abramoff, who raised at least $100,000 for President Bush's re-election, has been to the White House. Bush has said he doesn't know Abramoff.

Chris Farrell, Judicial Watch's director of investigations, said, "The documents will speak loud and clear on what Abramoff was doing in and out of the White House."

The visitor logs are to be delivered to Judicial Watch by May 10."

I heart Judicial Watch, the FOIA, and sunshine laws.

On topic for records, but off topic on well, one of the mysteries of the past century...

.. how about getting JFK's records
unsealed .. that were resealed during 41's tenure...

would be nice to know what they're hiding.

Anonymous 4:42 PM posting--it's too late: On the unrelated Indian issue, where's that 100 billion in missing BIA funds and those thousands of archival documents that got shredded?

I wanted to see those documents, but they went the same place the money went. . .

All,

Here is more news From Thinkprogress:

"WHAT THEY KNEW: More and more evidence continues to come out indicating that the Bush administration deceptively led the nation into war. Most recently, the CIA's former top official in Europe, Tyler Drumheller, revealed that Bush, Vice President Cheney, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, and others were told in a meeting in the fall of 2002 that a high-level intelligence source within Saddam Hussein's inner circle confirmed that Iraq did not have an active program for weapons of mass destruction. Drumheller argues that the evidence was ignored because the administration was only "looking for intelligence to fit into the policy" of regime change in Iraq. Drumheller's revelation confirms the British government account in the Downing Street Memo: "The intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy." More and more evidence are coming out against the Gerbil Administration!!

Gas prices are high "because suppliers are unable to keep up with demand, a situation that could persist up to three more years," Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman said yesterday." Folks, a person that doesn't know there ABC's and 123's know that this is the Gerbil's agenda. How ironic is that Bodman can predict 3 years for high rise of gas prices. Excuse me, isn't that when the Gerbil is out of office? Smells like corruption and it smell slike "the get all you can of all the oil profits before the 2008 election" mode by the Gerbil!

This is what happens when you try to marry a flawed racist ideology like "political zionism" to american way of life and process.

You get a new breed of sin, aka JACK ABRAMOFF AND THE TALMUD NEOCONS....

Enter stage right, what we have here is Washington gone totally out of control. Arrest Abramoff, Ahmanson, and do away with racist Israel thinking or straussians!!!

The mid-east is a wrecking ball now.

Folks,

Here is the excerpts of the Enron Trial with Lying Lay on the stand. From WSJ:

Monday, May 1
MONDAY MORNING CORPSE-ERBACKING: Hueston presented emails and employee-survey results to show that Lay received warnings about accounting issues at Enron from several employees, not just Sherron Watkins. "I've lost all respect for Enron senior management," one Enron employee said, suggesting that it was criminal for Enron executives to exercise stock options when they knew the books were being cooked. Lay told Hueston that it was easy in hindsight to second-guess his decisions while at the helm of Enron. "The corpse is on the gurney now, Mr. Hueston, and you're carving it up any way you want to carve it up," Lay said. "I didn't have that luxury when I was right in the middle of battle."

RUNNING BACK: Hueston questioned Lay about positive remarks he had made about Drexel Burnham Lambert, a Wall Street firm that went bankrupt in 1990 after pleading guilty to illegal securities trading. Lay said the firm was financially innovative and that "failure is not equated with criminal activity, or does not need to be equated with criminal activity." He went further to say that the the company encountered "a run on the bank back in the 1980s based on a number of events that occurred.'' The remarks echoed Lay's allegation that "a classic run on the bank" was responsible for Enron's collapse.

It's interesting that MSNBC confirms Plame working in Iran. Raw Story had that information long before MsNBC.Again, the media is always two step behind Raw Story, ThinkProgress, Firedoglake, etc. It is a matter of time the truth will come out on why we went to Iraq from the get go and why the Gerbil Administration is so corrupted...

More in the news. From Thinkprogress:

1. The little buckaroo McFelon changes the wording of "Mission Accomplished":

"Today, at the end of a testy exchange with a reporter, White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan offered a revised slogan: “We are on the way to accomplishing the mission.” He also accused those who brought up the original banner
of “misrepresenting and distorting the past.”
We are on way now??? To where??? No where???
And:

"9%.
Percentage of Americans who believe the mission in Iraq has been accomplished." And I know that no one on the blog represented the 9%!

I saw this on CNN. I watched Lou Dobbs on cable on Friday. And I found the transcript of watch I watched. Here an excerpt of what is on people's mind:

DOBBS: The results of our poll tonight, 98 percent of you say that Bush administration by approving the Dubai Doncasters deal has once again put commerce and trade ahead of national security.

Taking a look now at more of your thoughts, Glenda in Illinois: "Well, Lou, if we had 20 million Chinese or Muslims coming across our borders, it would be called an invasion and they would call out the National Guard. Oh, silly me. They can't do that. They sent them to Iraq to protect their borders."

And Wayne in North Carolina: "Lou, the president obviously does not watch your show if he believes the border is secure" -- as he said this week. "Please, please send him a tape to bring him up to speed before it's too late. If his credibility gets any lower, we won't believe him when he says, 'I'm the president.'" Now, there's a thought.

And Billy Joe in North Carolina: "Before they settle the illegal immigration problem, Congress should increase the minimum wage by the same percentage they've raised their salaries since 1997. Fair is fair."

Pretty funny but truthful!

ENRON dudes were looking for cash. That's how Corrupticut lost 220 million in some stupid deal where we pay them 220 million, then they pay us back for 12 years or so, at a 7% interest rate.

The "Rowland goes to the head of the Republican Party class for selling us out to the sinking ENRON" deal seems to not get mentioned in this trial.

I'd say that ENRON deal was a deliberate way to make the company look like it had more cash flow.

See.

Someone thunk it up and it was weird. Rowland said he never talked to Lay. Yeahright.

On Immigration and Border Security:

REALLY Big Business uses 1 dollar an hour Chinese labor and that's good for America bcause it is globalization.

SMALL or MEDIUM businesses use illegal aliens and that's bad because it depresses the wages of Americans.

Anyone can get anywehere they want. Witness the Mennonites running drugs from Mexico to Canada. (That's *two* borders.)

Immigration/ilegal aliens is "bad" because immigrants use US healthcare, but US healthcare is already corrupt and incompetent, because Managed Care Gatekeeping keeps people from specialists, and that ends up in greater disability and more hospital visits. We used to think early identification of illness results in the best outcomes. Managed Care hopes a person becomes so ill that they become disabled and then Medicare picks up the tab.

Managed Care also writes dot guv Doctrine for the AHRQ.gov, which is the "evidence biased medicine" in which the detection of diseases has an increasingly raised bar. Examples: Antiphospholipid Syndrome and Lyme borreliosis. Both had their diagnosis threshold's raised. For Chronic Fatigue and Chronic Immune suppression by new fungal diseases, Managed Care has decided to diagnose those people as hypochondriacs, so that the long term disability can be dropped, and they can be denied all treatments.

FDA is Corrupt. NIH is corrupt. We sink billions into bogus research because dot guv employees are also on the consulting payrolls of BigPharma and BigInsurance, and in the case of Lyme disease, one of the crooks, Edward McSweegan, is in charge of approving NIH grants.

That means no real data will emerge because he is part of the cabal which says you can only have Lyme if it affects your knee. Lyme is a permanent nervous system infection, just like neurosyphilis.

So, while there is ALL THIS EFFORT and money spent on bogus "evidence based medicine trials" to deny people care, we blame the immigrants.

The Federal Government wants new employees. That's an announcement and a new commercial. Uncle Sam wants smart people to work for him.

Oh.

That's not gonna happen until we know people who report crimes committed by corrupt officials won't be retaliated against.

That's not gonna happen because the USDOJ is Corrupt.

SPB, Thank you for those articles-like a cold drink on a hot summer day.

That is cool about Ambramoff/WH. Jodi, I wonder too. I heard a former FBI agent (14 yrs) give testimony that he witnessed records being altered in front of his eyes. They said "Is this type of thing something you witnessed on prior occassions in your career?"
He said "No, I have not ever witnessed that at any time I worked there previously." (and I just knew he wasn't lying-I am a natural at man lie detecting-far better than a poly)
Hopefully forensics can tell (usually can) if a document has been altered.
Kathleen, it sounds like you really worked with a bad batch all the way around in CT. That is amazing how far blatent corruption went!
I have worked at some good, some bad. But I still believe people are mostly good.

Anybody know of an inexpensive place to stay in/around DC (MD maybe) with an easy commute and not many bugs for a couple of days? My group has to stay longer than we thought-the hotel in DC is booked, except for the nights we already reserved.
