AND Wear A Tasteful Hat...

with dark sunglasses while commuting!

"Yesterday when I was flying back from DC to Chicago, I was sitting in the waiting area at National Airport, reading Jane’s recap of Rove’s history with the GJ on my Blackberry. It was late afternoon, the usual intercity shuttle crowd was gathering, when I glanced up from Jane’s disquisition to see none other than the tall man in the rumpled suit himself walking in my direction. I had no doubt who this was, flying home after a hard day on the road. If you’ve seen his picture as often as any FDLer has, there is no mistaking Patrick Fitzgerald in person.
Fitz parked himself in front of the TV and watched VERY intently as CNN explained to him what he’d done with Karl that day. A rather surreally fractured moment, my reading Jane explaining Fitz to me while Fitz watched CNN explaining Fitz to Fitz. And in his attaché case were probably the documents that would set all of these stories straight — oh to have had X-ray eyes!
I wanted to but didn’t go over and tell him how much I appreciate the service he is doing for the country (I’m more than a bit shy). One man in the waiting room did recognize him and spoke and shook his hand. I just sat and beamed somewhat involuntarily in his direction. I’m kind of an old lady so I can indulge in that kind of dottiness.
The thing that struck me about Fitz was his seeming to be completely un-self-conscious. I fly in and out of DC fairly often and when I do I play “Count the Congressmen.” They are easy to pick out in the crowd – middle aged men in expensive suits who clearly have their who’s-watching-me-now radar turned way up high. Even just waiting for a plane these guys are completely on stage. There was none of that about Fitz.
He watched CNN, checked his messages, sat in what appeared to be contemplation of his day. It seemed that no more than two people in the crowd knew that this was the man who had just slow cooked the Rovester over a smoky fire for four hours on our behalf, and in doing so may very well have saved our system of lawful democracy." - Comment buried deep in the Firedoglake catacomb.
I sure hope I didn't adjust myself or keep my nose clean...

This cannot possibly be the real Pat Fitzgerald.

He is not supposed to talk about cases.

If this was the real Pat Fitzgerald, Libby's lawyers would have give us a reverse Fitzmas.

For the last time it IS the real fitzgerald....

He is free to speculate on any aspect and drop us hints...the Grand Jury is who makes the choices. Fitz can drop us hints all he wants.

That's correct, and he never tells anyone everything or what will really happen. He drops the breadcrumbs here

Oh man. The image of Fitz in a white crocheted beret is too much for me. Tasteful, indeed.

I am suspect like Kathleen but for diffeent reasons. Patrick's personna is like a mythical Elliot Ness and after so many years of rampant corruption and legal persecutions like the obscene and expensive debacle of Ken Starr in the Clinton administration I think most people in this country are jaded about the integrity and motives of ANY governmental official elected or otherwise.

To have a true-blue American who has integrity and who is not swayed by intimidation or corruption is beyond believable. While the lockstep neocons can pander completely disingeniously to the lowest common denominator of their constituence (i.e. fear, God and country) it is very difficult for most Americans, who are not idiots, who are not blind-faith followers, who have been lied to so much for decades, to accept the real thing when it manifests itself.

I don't think this blog lets any cats out of the bag or crosses any legal limitations of what a federal attorney can do (I am not a lawyer though) the openness of Patrick to even have one to discuss ANY aspects of what he is doing is what people may have a hard time accepting as being genuine.

We are so used to hearing, "we cannot comment on issues surrounding ongoing investigations/litigation,etc." as a means to deny the public any inkling of what goes on in secrecy. In fact as Americans we have all been convinced that the very secrecy itself is more about covering blunders and illegality than it is about protecting the innocent or the country at large.

As an American who remembers the Kennedy assination, the Warren report and Watergate we have accepted the fact that the government is so mysterious, cloaked, and deceptive that the truth is the LAST thing we can hope for. Look at the conspiracy theories that abound surrounding 9/11 and you will see how suspicious Americans are about anything that comes from the government or that the government does.

So for most people I think who stumble upon this blog the first reaction is going to be that this cannot be real, that this is just another aspect of disinformation or confusion that has become the foundation of American politics.

To see the country falling apart on so many levels, being run by self-interest and aggrandizing ego-maniacs who manage to fleece us while at the same time pulling the same wool over our eyes has become de-rigeuer.

Patrick may represent the last bit of hope that anyone has that there are still people who are NOT jaded, who will not tolerate the piecemeal destruction of our country from within, who are above the petty and grand corruption that is so ubiquitous and who still believe that the Constitution is a sacred document that demands doing the right thing.

I have no idea how all of this will turn out since the forces Patrick is aligned against are highly skilled and professional obfiscators that are fighting for their very survival at a time when they were convinced they had the mission accomplished.

But I can say that from what I have read here and elsewhere Patrick appears to be the real thing. And to that all I can say is that I hope God can bless and protect you from these evil doers. You are fighting a dragon that would have made St. George cringe. And even though we do not knight people in this country I do not think when all is said and done that it would be inappropriate to have at least one St. Patrick on our side.

I meant it would NOT be innapropriate, of course. Bad typing.

I thimk what throws some folks off are the faux blogs of Alito and Meier in the sidebar. Such a slap at a sitting jurist could be consisered over the top.

I've had my doubts on and off until I saw the thank you note from the reporter from "The Owl."

Frankly I think it's a welcome change of pace to see someone with such a serious job step away and have a little fun. And considering the endless spin from the other side I'm glad to see this space available.

Being that Fitz is from Flatbush, he's probablly passed through the Grand Army Plaza station more times than he can count in his life.

I'm leaving in an hour to perform there for the folks heading to the Peace demonstration in Manhattan.

This one's for you, PJF

Thousands of Americans all across this country thank you and your team for the phenomenal work you are doing. You are our heroes; the guys in the white hats who give us hope and inspiration. Thank you for your unwavering pursuit of justice, liberty and truth.

Kathleen, just how long do you suppose someone "using" Fitzgeralds name to start a blog would last-if it was not the real deal? About a day at the most. Geesh.

Whenever I picture Fitz, I picture him surreptitiously protected by "old Spooks". The dedicated, patriotic men and women of the CIA who kept the free world safe for so long and who were suddenly decided to be expendable for political purposes. If you spooks aren't on the job then get out there and protect Fitz-he's working to protect you and us. And if you are on the job; a huge thank-you.

Mr. Fitzgerald,

Thanks goes to you and your entire team of hard working people to restore law and order to our country.

Without the DOJ's help in kicking out these traitors and spies we never may have gotten our country back, I know you don't deserve all the credit.

But I can't help myself in saying what a brave and good soul you are.

Let the light of truth filter out any and all corruption and watch your back, they will try "bio terror" things in Chicago and it could be this week.

Everyone will be praying for the safety of the team and preventing any other evil catastrophes from taking place.

Namaste

Jay from Vancouver sorry but:

"old Spooks"....dedicated, patriotic...CIA ... kept the free world safe

give me a break! CIA
(and for that means any other intelligence agency)
keeping the world safe is an incongruent statement .... if they're out there watching anyones back it's because it suits
(for the time being)their own agenda.

Mr. Fitzgerald, You and your staff have millions of "moms, dads, brothers and sisters" out here that 'beam and swell with pride and awe'---you just don't realize it all the time. Keep being the good, honest and humble people you all are and it will be fine.

People see you and you don't see them. Notice how people just watch and realize you aren't what they read. You didnt listen to me I told you that who ever is lucky enough to see the real Fitz knows what everyone on this blog has always known. More sightings and story will come to your attention in the future.

And we ceetainly didn't hear that story on the news. Very interesting. People are watching you. But, this story does tell people about the real you and not from what the media says or Woodward says about you. This article will show the public that you are just simply a prosecutor that is doing his job and that you are no different from a doctor, plummer, or ditch digger and you are not what Woodward claimed "a junkyard dog!". Again, the media promotes negative and dirt and less positive news.
